A future year of music

Quick! Think back to where you were 10 years ago. It was 2002.

W hat were you doing? What were you wearing? What music were you listening to? Who were you hanging out with? What were you dreaming about for the future?

It’s quite a thing thinking about where you might be 10 years from now… what you’ll be wearing, what music will be like, where you’ll be living, what you will have achieved between now and then, and what life will be like in 2022… should the world not end before then.

Ten years ago I wasn’t even dreaming about music as part of a career plan. It was just a way of life while studying to get a real job! I never thought I would have travelled around the country, let alone across the world, because of music. And here we are…

It has been almost a year since I clicked and purchased that plane ticket to attend the Future Music Forum in Barcelona. Reflecting back on all that’s happened in the course of a year, I am both humbled and awed.

So the question now is… where will the RCB be a year from now? What would we like to have achieved in 12 months?

It’s a fairly straight-forward idea, inspired by Ryan O’Neall:

A year from now, we want to have recorded 36 songs.

Yes. You read right. Every month for a year, we’ll be recording and releasing a three-song EP of brand new original songs.

Partly stupid. Mostly gung ho.

Stay tuned.

Frontman Ryan reads mostly autobiographies, is an avid fan of animated movies and has an ongoing fascination with online media trends.
